Family pleads for answers in fatal shooting of grocery store owner

Police have identified the 81-year-old woman killed in a shooting in South Philadelphia Christmas Eve morning.

It happened around 9:00 A.M. Saturday morning inside Marie's Grocery Store on S. 6th St.

According to police, when officers arrived on scene an 81-year-old woman was lying behind the service counter.

Police say the woman, identified as Marie Buck, was shot multiple times in her torso by a man in all black wearing a hood.

Buck was taken to Jefferson hospital and pronounced dead at 9:12 A.M.

Police say the initial investigation reveals the suspect entered the store and began firing his weapon at the victim.

Nothing was reported taken from the store, according to police.

Police have not yet made any arrests. This is an active and ongoing investigation.
