Evesham Police warn of increasing number of holiday decorations being vandalized or stolen

Evesham Police are warning of the increasing number of holiday decorations being vandalized or stolen.

"He got took by a robber," said 3-year-old Logan. He has no problem spotting what's missing from the Christmas decorations his parents put up in the front yard of their Evesham home.

"We don't have a Santa blow-up anymore," said Logan. The Giroux family spent about two days putting up the holiday display. Logan and his sister Olivia were excited about it. But Thursday of last week someone stole the Santa they put out every year.

"We had a Santa Claus on the front lawn. It had a nice propeller that moved around. We had it about 10 years and I came out one morning and I'm looking around the yard and I'm like something looks different. Santa Claus is gone," said Logan's father Arthur Giroux.

Evesham police say it's happening all around the township. People are stealing or vandalizing holiday decorations. It's happening so much that police posted a warning on their Facebook page for neighbors to be on the lookout.

"It's kind of Grinchy to ruin people's Christmas over a stupid decoration. It's kind of silly," said Giroux.

Police say they've had reports of Christmas lights being cut, lawn projectors and inflatable decorations being stolen . The most recent happened during daylight today. Someone stole a large inflatable from a lawn on Knox Street.

"It's cause more worry than it should for the holiday season," said Adrienne Giroux.

We caught Dawn Burfeind unplugging her decorations at her home on Essex Court. Mainly because of the wind but with thieves in mind too.

"It ruins Christmas because the neighbors and all like to have a little competition, be friendly and come out and chat about it. We don't want to chat about people taking stuff," said Burfeind.
