Evesham Township hiring officers to help protect schools

Evesham, NJ (WTXF) - Police are hiring more officers so armed officers can keep watch inside the schools in Evesham Township.

Evesham police announced a job search--looking to hire armed guards to protect the elementary and middle schools in the township as part of the 'Class 3 Special Police Officer Initiative'.
The high school students already see officers on patrol in between their classes

Evesham police say they are looking for retired cops under 65 who live in New Jersey for the job. They will also need the proper certifications and will take orders from the police chief.

Many parents recognize the move as a sign of the dangerous times we are in.
