Ex-boyfriend arrested in Mount Holly woman's stabbing death

The man wanted in the stabbing death of his ex-girlfriend earlier this week is now under arrest.

Thursday morning, Burlington County's prosecutor and the U.S. Marshal for the District of New Jersey announced fugitive Rashon A. Causey of Burlington City was caught at about 8:30pm Wednesday in a home, several blocks away. They did not announce who the home belongs to.

Causey is charged with the stabbing death of Shanai Marshall, 37. Marshall was the mother of Causey's young child.

She was stabbed repeatedly at her Mount Holly home in the first block of Monroe Street, shortly before midnight Monday night.

Her wounds were so severe, she had to be flown to a Trenton hospital but passed away there.

An autopsy concluded the manner of death was homicide and the cause was a stab wound to the head.

Causey, 38, is charged with first-degree murder, aggravated assault, burglary, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon.

His bail was set at $1.05 million with no 10 percent permitted.

His first court appearance is scheduled for 11am. Then, the case will be referred to a Burlington County Grand Jury to be considered for indictment.
