Family's agonizing wait to donate 3-year-old daughter's organs

The family of Brigham Young University running backs coach Reno Mahe said it will donate the organs of their 3-year-old daughter who'd been hospitalized since last week, after a tragic accident at the family's home.

Elsie Mahe was playing with a friend when a cord from the window blinds somehow got tangled around her neck.

Elsie's mother, Sunny, performed CPR, but it's still not clear how long she was without oxygen. Unfortunately, an MRI later showed extensive brain damage and her condition continued to deteriorate

The family wrote on a GoFundMe page, "Elsie's condition continues to slowly slip. And yet we feel peace."

"The miraculous healing we have been praying for is not FOR Elsie, but FROM Elsie," her mother continued. "It is not the miracle that we wanted, but it is the one we got. It is still a miracle."

They added at the end, "She is comfortable and not in pain. We will stay by her side and continue to love her forever. We do not have a timeline for how long this transition will take."
