Fishing boat capsized by whale off New Jersey coast

New Jersey State Police are chalking up a win for mother nature after a whale caused a boat to overturn off the coast of New Jersey.

Police shared a photo of the overturned boat on their Facebook page along with details about the incident.

According to police, two people were on board the 20-foot boat fishing about a mile off of Deal, Monmouth County.

The pair suddenly had a close encounter with a whale, which had surfaced beneath the boat, causing it to capsize. Both people on the boat fell overboard, but neither was injured.

The Facebook post included a scoreboard reading:" Final Score: Whale 1- Boat 0."

"Charges against the whale are pending its apprehension," police wrote.
