Former Malvern Prep Counselor Accused of Pursuing Boy, 16

Malvern, Pa. (AP/WTXF)- A former counselor at a suburban Philadelphia prep school has been charged with pursuing a 16-year-old youth and trying to initiate a physical relationship with him.

Forty-year-old Emily Feeney of Wayne, former director of college counseling at Malvern Prep and also a swim coach, faces charges in Chester County including unlawful contact with a minor, indecent assault and corruption of minors.

District Attorney Tom Hogan alleges that Feeney kissed the youth, sent him inappropriate emails and photos and promised him admission to an elite college

He said after authorities were tipped off in May, the private all-boys school fired Feeney and is cooperating with law enforcement.

"She was using every type of persuasion and power at her fingertips to try to get to him," said Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan.

Investigators say Feeney started sending the boy sexually explicit texts, topless photos and emails from her school email account about a year ago. The criminal complaint says among the messages, was the following: Feeney telling the boy: "I adore you. I always will." According to the criminal complaint, another message said, "You are gorgeous and this is killing me, please talk to me" and "If you just stop fighting and let it happen you'd be a lot less uptight and much happier."

The boy even refused her alleged advances, saying back to Feeney, "I am not interested in you. I am 16 end of story. I'm not into you."

Feeney is charged with institutional sexual assaul among other charges. She is out on bail tonight.
