Funeral for young NJ trooper killed in head-on crash

- It’s a sad day as we bid a final farewell to one of New Jersey's finest.

Funeral services for State Trooper Frankie Williams will take place at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

They’re scheduled to start at noon.

The first two hours are for friends and family; the second two hours are for law enforcement. Williams' family requested the burial service remain private.

Williams, 31 of Egg Harbor Township, leaves behind a new wife of just three months.

Republican Gov. Chris Christie and Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno are expected to attend the services.

Last Monday evening, Trooper Williams was responding to reports of an erratic driver in Millville.

Sadly, that driver crossed the median and struck Williams' vehicle head-on.

He was flown to Camden and died at the hospital. The other driver, 61-year-old Lloyd Rudley, was also killed.

"Frankie Williams always dreamed of becoming a New Jersey State Trooper. He achieved that goal and quickly earned the admiration and respect of both his supervisors and peers," said Colonel Rick Fuentes, Superintendent of the New Jersey State Police. "Frankie was a kind, caring person who put others before himself.  We are devastated and heartbroken by his passing, but he can rest assured that we will embrace his family as they will always remain a part of our State Police family."
