Funeral mass for former police commissioner John Timoney held Tuesday

Family, friends and colleagues will say their final goodbyes to former Philadelphia police commissioner John Timoney.

A special funeral mass is set to be held at New York's St. Patrick's Cathedral on 5th Avenue at 10am.

Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney will be there.

New York Police Commissioner William Bratton will deliver the eulogy. Timoney served as a top deputy for him before former mayor Ed Rendell brought him to Philadelphia.

Timoney served as Philadelphia police commissioner from 1998 until 2002.

After, he went into the private sector but then headed back into public safety, leading Miami's police department as chief for seven years.

Timoney died last week after a battle with lung cancer.
