Evacuations over as Bethlehem gas leak, water main fixed

The gas leak and water main break that forced people in several Northampton County homes to be the evacuated, early Wednesday morning, are fixed and the people can now return.

The problems led to a sinkhole. SKYFOX was over the repair work going on at N. New Street between Garrison and North streets in Bethlehem, but a four-block area is closed to traffic.

The Bethlehem Fire Department said about 30 people had to leave their homes.

The problem was discovered when people smelled gas.
