Girl, 2, Dies After Falling Snow Buries 3 Children in Freak Accident

(INSIDE EDITION) A 2-year-old girl is dead after she was buried under snow and ice that slid from the roof of an Idaho cabin.

Halle Merrill was one of three children trapped beneath the mound of snow Friday in a resort area not far from Yellowstone National Park, according to reports.

It took 30 minutes to dig out the three children, who were buried under several feet of snow after 5 p.m. All three were found unconscious.

According to the Idaho State Journal, the two other children -- both of them seven-year-olds -- were revived at the scene.

All three girls were airlifted from the scene. Halle was revived en route.

"This was a freak accident," Humphries tells EastIdahoNews.com. "It was heart wrenching for the dispatchers and EMTs and firemen and everyone who responded. Our prayers are with the kids and their families."

Halle died late Friday. The other girls are listed in fair condition.

Now, an online fundraiser has been created in Halle's honor on the website Fundly.

"As a family, they are taking time to mourn and celebrate the life of sweet Halle. This is a very trying and sad time, thank you for allowing them their privacy," family friend Robert Clayton wrote. "Your continued thoughts and prayers are appreciated, THANK YOU."

As of Tuesday afternoon, the fundriaser had raised over $14,000.
