Girl struck by stray bullet inside Feltonville home

FELTONVILLE (WTXF) - A 17-year-old girl is recovering after she was struck by a stray bullet while watching TV inside her Feltonville home. Her home wasn't the only one hit, and several cars were, too.

Earlier, at about 12:30 a.m., police say an off-duty officer was about to enter his car when he saw six men "having words with unknown persons further up the block towards B and Ruscomb streets.

"He then saw several of these males enter a home on B Street and come back outside. Three male offenders all had handguns and started firing up the street. The off-duty officer contacted 911 after he saw several males fleeing back into a house and side alley on B Street. The scene was declared a barricade and officers from S.W.AT. arrived and secured the residence. None of the offenders were located inside the house."

However, a 17-year-old girl who watching TV in the front bedroom of a home on B Street was found after a projectile entered through the 2nd floor window, striking her in the chest. An off-duty officer quickly transported the victim to the hospital where she was treated and released.

Detectives processed the scene and surrounding area, early Monday morning, and found a number of cars had been shot, along with another home where bullets had went through a bedroom window, over the head of a 4-year-old girl.

FOX29's Steve Keeley discovered from where he was standing, bullets had been coming from both directions.

The search for the gunmen is ongoing. There are no arrests or motive at this time.
