Gymnastics instructor charged with sexual assault of child

NORRISTOWN, Pa.(WTXF) Authorities say a gymnastics instructor has been arrested and charged in connection with the sexual assault of a child.

According to authorities, Daniel Jacob Erb, 33, of Hatboro, Pa., was arrested for felony Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse with a Child, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Indecent Assault, Unlawful Contact with a Minor, and other charges related to allegedly assaulting a young girl over the course of three years.

Investigators say Erb, who was a gymnastics instructor, allegedly sexually assaulted the girl multiple times from when she was 8 years old until she was 11 years old while he was in a caretaker role with her.

Bail has been set at $500,000 cash. Erb has been ordered to have no contact with minors under the age of 18.

A preliminary hearing is set for August 18.
