Police search for man accused of attempted sexual assault

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) Surveillance pictures show a 19-year-old woman fighting for her life as police say a man tried to sexually assault her.

Philadelphia police said the victim was walking on the 1300 block of Wharton Street, back on April 20 at about 1:30am.

That’s when the alleged attacker came from behind and forced her to the ground. He was able to pull the top of her dress down, exposing her breast, according to police.

Police say she sprayed him in the face and he ran away northbound in the 1200 block of S. Clarion Street.

Police describe the wanted man as about 37 years old, 5’7” tall, weighing 225 lbs., with a medium build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants.

Anyone with information on him is asked to call the Special Victims Unit at 215-685-3251 or 215-685-3252, or simply 911.
