HR manager accused of stealing nearly $1 million

A woman who worked for a Montgomery County company is now charged with stealing almost $1 million from it.

The District Attorney's office says Christine Cushman stole $919,301 from HighPoint Solutions in East Norriton.

Authorities say HighPoint's payroll company was alerted "after a bank officer had noticed suspicious multiple direct deposits of a significant size going into the defendant's personal account.

The company's CEO met with an East Norriton detective on July 4 and says the investigation showed Cushman, who was the company's director of human resources, "was issuing fraudulent payroll checks in the names of four former contractors who no longer did business with the company."

It found 45 thefts between May 2015 and June 2017.

Cushman -- 31 of Douglassville, Berks County -- is charged with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, and identity theft.

She posted $10,000 bail and was released.
