Husband Who Allegedly Stabbed Wife, Baby Extradited Back To Philadelphia

Philadelphia Police have arrested a man after he allegedly stabbed his wife and 1-year-old child.

Stephen Burton, 41, was extradited from Maryland Wednesday after he was arrested while driving through Baltimore City on I-95 on Sunday evening.

Early Sunday morning around 12:25 a.m., police responded to a reported stabbing on the 1900 block of Dallas Street in West Oak Lane.

When officers arrived on scene, they located 37-year-old Danecia Burton and her 21-month old daughter suffering from stab wounds.

Danecia had suffered multiple wounds all over her body was taken to Einstein Hospital where she was listed in critical condition. The child was treated for a stab wound to the chest at St. Christopher's Hospital where she was listed in critical condition.

Police say Stephen Burton also attempted to stab his 4-year-old son, but was stopped by his wife. The boy did sustain a superficial head injury during the struggle.

Following the incident, witnessed identified Stephen as the assailant, and told police that he had fled the location.

Stephen Burton has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, possessing an instrument of crime, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person.
