Is Black Friday a dying trend?

- You might as well not even call it Black Friday anymore. Because shopping season has already begun. The stores are open tonight at King of Prussia mall.

While many were finishing off that pumpkin pie today, stores were already opening for the holidays shopping season.

Ah, the good old days of violent door buster sales and shoppers lining up days in advance for that must have holiday item.

"I remember nothing would open until early black Friday morning. And the lines were out through the door," said Anita from Plymouth Meeting.

Well, these days the lines outside even the most popular stores aren't nearly as long.

Consider 2017 as the year black Friday died.

"I go out for like three things. I get the rest of it online," said one shopper.

Of course, there are the Black Friday sales. Just not a lot of people.
More and more shoppers going online instead of in-stores.

"I know all of my friends are shopping on Amazon," said another shopper.

And many say they're getting shopping done and good deals way before Black Friday, including Thanksgiving day.

Erin Lauer from Gloucester City is serious, "I figure we can see family any time but I can't get these deals any other time of year"

Erin was one of the first in line and at Toys-R-Us. She's started what will be 36 hours of straight shopping before most of you finished turkey dinner.

"It's the adrenaline that's pumping in me that keeps me up all night. The deals. I'm like a crazy coupon-er,” said Erin.

The King of Prussia mall is open throughout the night.
