ATLANTA - Children's Healthcare of Atlanta shared a heartwarming photo on Facebook Thursday night of a brave little girl who has been battling cancer.
"After four rounds of chemo and one successful surgery, little Reese—with help from Mom and Dad—walked out of the hospital tumor-free, just in time for Christmas," CHOA said.
Reese is the 1-year-old daughter of Star 94.1's Jenn Hobby and her husband Grant Rivera.
FOX 5 has been following Reese's battle with cancer since August when Hobby announced doctors had discovered a plum-sized, solid mass tumor in her abdomen, on the base of her spine. Just 11-months-old at the time, Reese immediately started chemotherapy at CHOA's Aflac Cancer Center at Egleston.
"She's such a resilient little kid," Hobby said on the air last week. "We love everybody at the Aflac Cancer Center, but I hope we never check back in!"
Doctors removed the tumor the Monday after Thanksgiving and the young patient was able to go home by the end of the week.
"She's already up and walking around again," Hobby said. "She's already taking her first steps after the surgery."
Hobby said Reese was so happy to be home, and back in her own crib. On Thursday, after she left the hospital, Hobby said her "lil fighter" was running around the house with her big sister.
"One brave lil girl, an unwavering faith, and the best doctors in the world equals a successful surgery," Rivera said. "Beating cancer again tomorrow."
