John B. Kelly Elementary closed Monday for mold

The School District of Philadelphia announced that John B. Kelly Elementary School in the city's Germantown section will be closed again on Monday, October 16 due to mold. The district says the school will not reopen until the building is mold free.

The school was closed on Thursday after heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) issues, revealed traces of mold in several classrooms.

An environmental remediation contractor began working to remove the problem on Wednesday and Thursday.

Kelly staff will continue to report to the Hill Freedman World Academy located at 1100 Mt. Pleasant Street, 19150.

The District says they will provide an additional update this Sunday by 5p.m. for parents, staff and the school community.
