27-year-old man arrested in connection with Clinton campaign laptop thefts

- A man has been arrested in connection with the theft of three Clinton campaign laptops in the Northern Liberties.

According to police, a 27-year-old male was taken into custody Saturday after a search warrant was executed at a home on the 500 block of Diamond Street.

All three computers were recovered from the suspect at his home.

The man has a lengthy criminal history, police say, and charges are pending.

Police say the theft was made at random and the man had no indication who the victims were or that they were affiliated with any campaign work.

On Friday around 9:30 P.M., police responded to a report for theft on the highway. Officers found four complainants who said their car had been broken into.

Police say they parked their 2016 Buick Enclave on the highway near the 100 block of Brown Street around 8:00 P.M. while they dined at a nearby restaurant.

The complainants went back to their car at 9:15 P.M. when they noticed the rear passenger window broken and three of their back-packs missing. Police says the bags contained Mac Book Pros and other various items.

According to the complainants, the computers may have contained scheduling information surrounding the Hillary Clinton Presidential Campaign since they all are working for the campaign.

As standard procedure, the Secret Service and The Department of Homeland Security were notified and worked with Philadelphia police during the investigation.
