Local brewery donates proceeds from fundraiser to the Aston Fire Department

They raised their glasses at the Aston Abbey Brewing Company and raised money at the same time for the Aston Fire Department.

For a second year, the local brewery is donating some of its proceeds to the all-volunteer fire company. It's especially needed after the fire department was forced to cancel its biggest fundraiser--it's spring carnival permanently shut down last week after several fights broke out.

"We decided in the wake of the fair closing, we'd just go ahead and drop off the check and see if we can't raise everybody's spirits a little," Chuck McKenna said.

Aston Abbey Brewing Company presented a check for $800 dollars, but the money is still pouring in after the brewery added a donate button on its Facebook page.

The president of the Aston Fire Department says this community always has their back and vice versa.
