Local Marine Mom gets heartwarming surprise from community

A community gathered together to show their appreciation for a local woman who has given back to our Veterans.

Her son is a marine, her husband is battling cancer and Patty Lewis still finds time to help serve our veterans.

"My son is a marine, he was on his 3rd deployment… and I knew that these guys needed things in Iraq….so I started working with the commanders of the battalions to find out what they need."

Patty is on permanent disability. Her son suffers from PTSD and a brain injury and her husband can no longer work while dealing with esophageal cancer. Bills piled up and on top of all of that her car barely made it to her husband's doctors' appointments.

So today a local collision shop and several partners, fully rehabbed a car and gave it to Patty.

"We always said we needed some kind of miracle, we didn't talk about what was going on, our friends didn't know, and things like this are literally a miracle, I mean who does this for people," said Patty.

Who does this for people? Those who see the sacrifices that some make and want them to understand that they're worthy even when they doubt it.

A new car may be a small thing when you consider everything they're dealing with but it reinforced that doing the right thing is and should be recognized…for goodness sake.
