Man killed, elderly father stable in Crescentville house fire

A house fire in Crescentville took the life of one man and left his elderly father in critical condidtion on Monday.

The blaze ripped through a home on the 900 block of Foulkrod Street around 2:15 a.m.

Officials say the elderly man was transported to Temple University Hospital in critical condition on Monday morning, but is now stable and improving.

One firefighter also suffered minor injuries while battling the blaze.

Red Paw Relief Team reports that two parrots and one cat from the apartment next door appear to be okay. Three cats from an additional apartment are sheltering in place, while crews continue to search for two cats from the primary fire dwelling.

Police have yet to identify the deceased.
