Police: 4-month-old found safe after van stolen in West Philadelphia

- PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) It was frantic moments for a Philadelphia father of five whose car was stolen Monday morning in a matter of minutes while his 4-month-old son Cameron was in the backseat.

“Everything just happened so fast,” he told FOX 29

Kareem Moore Sr. says he pulled over at 49th and Walnut Streets to run inside a convenience store and grab some water for his infant.  It was a rainy morning and he knew he was going to be quick. What he didn't know was a young man in a green puffy vest holding a red umbrella was going to be even quicker, police say, the teen realized Moore left his car running and swiftly seized his opportunity to steal it.

"I ran to corner looking for him - pouring rain and I'm looking for my son face tears, hand shaking," the father explained.

Moore says he left his cell phone in the van, too.  He ran back inside the store to call police and call and text his cell phone hoping the teen would react and he did.

"The person who took car did the right thing, he communicated back and said he's gonna put kid at Penn Street. We directed officers to that location and the kid was immediately found on steps of home up there - uninjured," said Lt. Walker.

Baby Cameron was treated and released from St. Christopher's Hospital. His family is still recovering from the scare.

The suspect and the stolen van, a white 2013 Town and Country, are still missing. Police want your help tracking them down.
