PITTSBURGH (AP) -- The district attorney's office has charged a Kuwaiti student at the University of Pittsburgh with possessing child pornography.
Eighteen-year-old Ammar Butaleb faces a preliminary hearing April 26 on that charge and also with criminal use of a cellphone.
Investigators say they received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that some 20 videos were contained in an online Dropbox account that they later determined Butaleb had used in Pittsburgh and Kuwait City.
Investigators say Butaleb acknowledged knowing child pornography was illegal and that he viewed the images on his phone. Butaleb also told investigators he has no interest in child pornography and that the files were sent to him.
Online court records don't list a defense attorney, and Butaleb didn't immediately return an email to his student account for comment.
