Police: Armed robber shot and killed in Falls Township Pharmacy

FALLS TWP., Pa. (WTXF)-  Police in Falls Township are investigating a shooting at a pharmacy following an attempted robbery.

The incident occurred at the Pennsbury Pharmacy on the 8500 block of New Falls Road.

Kenneth Lee poured his heart and soul into his family business the Pennsbury pharmacy. Police say he was watching his surveillance monitors around 10 a.m. Friday morning when a green van started backing in.

“He sees the car backing into the parking spot, instead of pulling in straight, which callS attention to the vehicle. He then saw the subject exiting the passenger side of the van, wearing a mask. The only way I can describe it is LIKE a Halloween-type mask.  He also had an umbrella, which he had opened, which looked suspicious to the owner. believed he saw a shotgun, behind that umbrella,” said Falls Township Lt. Henry Ward.

According to police, the pharmacist grabbed his own 9 millimeter and told the suspect he was armed and to go away instead the suspect charged.

"The actor pushed the umbrella through window and then jumped through the window, brandishing  the shotgun. At which point, the owner fired multiple times; striking the subject multiple times," said Lt. Ward.

Police say the suspect died. Police need your help to identify him and sent FOX 29 a picture of his very distinctive tattoo. Police say they also found hand ties and think the suspect planned to tie the owner up and steal prescription medications.                        

Falls Township police were at the scene in a minute and caught the getaway driver still sitting in the stolen mini-van, according to investigators. Neighbors say he looked suspicious.

The store owner is well-liked and respected.  The DA says the store owner will not be charged.
