2 taken to hospital after twin-style home catches fire in Delanco

BURLINGTON COUNTY, N.J. (WTXF) - Two people were taken to the hospital as firefighters battled a house fire in in Delanco, Burlington County early Thursday morning.

Crews responded to the 600 block of Hickory Street around 2 a.m. to find the home engulfed in flames.

Fire officials say people in neighboring homes made it out safely before flames intensified, and two adults who were taken to the hospital are expected to be okay.

FOX 29's Jennifer Joyce reports a man who lived down the street says his sister lived inside the home that caught fire, and it had been their childhood home. The man says she was getting ready to sell it.

Fire officials say the twin style home is in danger of collapsing, causing firefighters to focus their efforts on fighting the fire from outside of the home.

There's no word on how the fire started, but officials say it escalated quickly.
