WEST PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Philadelphia Police are searching for a man they say shot a woman when she fought of his attempt to steal her purse in West Philadelphia.
The incident occurred back on September 7th, just before 9:00 a.m. on the unit block of North 52nd Street.
Officers responded to a call of a person shot, when they found a 26-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the left wrist and left side of her chest. She was transported to Presbyterian Hospital by medics, and was treated for her injuries.
Surveillance video captured the victim in a group of about 15 men, when a man approached her, grabbed her purse, and tried to run off.
In the video, the victim can be seen struggling with the suspect over her purse, when the suspect pulls out a handgun and shoots the woman twice.
The suspect fled, and was last seen heading south on 52nd Street.
The suspect has been described as a black male between the ages of 25 and 30, standing 5'7", 150 lbs.
