NJ woman indicted in mother-in-law's death

EAST WINDSOR, N.J. (WTXF) — A East Windsor, New Jersey woman has been charged with her mother-in-law's murder.

Prosecutors say Tasneem Diwan, 46, bludgeoned her mother-in-law, 73-year-old Safia Diwan, to death in the New Jersey home that they shared, back on January 26th.

A Mercer County Grand Jury returned the three-count indictment last week.

According to authorities, police received a call from the Diwan's home, when the caller reported finding his mother dead. Officers responded to the scene and found the elder Diwan lying in the front of the home.

Officers could not locate Tasneem Diwan, and she was eventually found three days later when she was spotted at a casino in Atlantic City.

Detectives later determined that Tasneem Diwan struck her mother in law in the head numerous times with an unknown object inside the home.

Diwan was charged back on January 30th, and has remained in jail on $1 million bail.
