PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Two officers are recovering, after a car trying to flee police, ends up hitting their police cruiser.
The accident occurred around 9:50 p.m. Thursday evening near 58th and Master streets in West Philadelphia.
Police say officers attempted to stop a Cadillac with two occupants after noticing heavily tinted windows, when the driver sped off in an attempt to flee.
The escape only lasted about a block, as the suspect t-boned another uninvolved police SUV as it crossed the intersection of 59th and Master, forcing the SUV up onto the curb and into a residence.
Police say the suspect then struck the police SUV a second time, pushing it up against the home.
The two suspects, a 23-year-old man, and 33-year- old woman, then fled the scene but were later taken into custody.
Two officers inside of the SUV suffered minor injuries, as one walked away with a bloody nose, and the other sustained a cut to the head. Both are expected to be okay.
The male suspect was taken to Mercy Hospital by police after complaining of pain in his ankle. The female suspect was taken to Presbyterian Hospital with a swollen knee.
Investigators say a green leafy substance was found in the car, and may be marijuana.
The investigation is ongoing.
