Body of 5-year old Boy Recovered from Lehigh Canal

ALLENTOWN (WTXF) - Allentown Police have confirmed that an autistic boy who went missing Thursday night has been found dead.

According to officials, the body of Jayliel Vega, 5, boy has been recovered from the Lehigh Canal.

Vega went missing on the east side of town around 11:00 p.m. He was last seen running in the area of Aubrey Street and East South Street.

The boy was not wearing shoes, socks, or a coat. He slipped out of of a nearby home during a New Year's party his parents were attending. He ran from a neighbor around 11:00 p.m. and has not been seen since.

Police had gone from door to door and also brought dogs and drones into the search for the boy.
