One of the Americans killed in a suicide attack in Afghanistan Monday was a 30-year-old staff sergeant with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, who grew up in Wyncote, in Montgomery County. He leaves behind both a three-year-old daughter and a wife expecting another child.
Arlene Wagner, the mother of Staff Sgt. Peter Taub, told The Associated Press on Tuesday that Taub was one of the six Americans killed in the attack near Bagram Airfield on Monday.
Wagner says her son was stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota.
Wagner and Taub's brother, Jonathan, run a popular sandwich shop, Bub and Pops, in downtown Washington. The shop posted messages saying it would be closed this week because of Taub's death.
Peter Taub was deployed to Afghanistan in October.
