NJ couple shares powerful video about how love has helped them battle brain cancer

- A northern New Jersey couple has shared their incredible love story and battle together against brain cancer in a YouTube video.

Scott and Julie Spoerl have been in love since they met when they were just 18-years-old in 1991.

They graduated from college together in 1995.

Then, they married in 1998, each making a vow to love one another in both sickness and in health.

They had their first child, a girl named Paige Elizabeth in 2002, and a boy, John Jay “JJ”, in 2004.

Two years later, in 2006, Scott was diagnosed with brain cancer.

According to the couple’s video, Scott underwent many surgeries, rounds of chemotherapy, and participating in clinical trials.

And Scott is still battling brain cancer, 10 years later.

The cancer keeps coming back, a sign held up by Julie in the video reads.

“It’s not easy. Some days are really hard,” the next sign reads.

“But LOVE pulls us through – together.”

The family says that they will continue to make more happy memories every day while still hoping for a cure.

“All we need is HOPE and for that we have each other,” the next sign reads.

The powerful video ends with all four family members on screen holding up a final sign that says, “Where there is great love there are always miracles.”
