PHILADELPHIA- WTXF - Philadelphia Police announced that they have made an arrest, and named the suspect, in the Wednesday incident in which a man a pulled a gun on a woman in a Center City parking garage, commandeered her car, drove to a gas station ATM, and eventually drove off in her car.
Police later saw the car on Westmoreland Street, pulled it over, and arrested the defendant, identified as 40-year-old Nathaniel Rodriguez of Philadelphia.
The crime took place starting at 6 a.m. on Wednesday when, police say, Rodriguez entered an elevator in the Delancey Street parking garage and opened his jacket, indicating to the 28-year-old woman that he was holding something metallic. The two entered the woman’s blue Honda Fit, and he drove it to a gas station at Aramingo Ave. off 95, where he tried to get her to withdraw money. When the attempt failed, he took off in the car, leaving her unharmed.
Rodriguez faces charges of aggravated assault, kidnapping, carjacking, unlawful restraint, robbery, simple assault, theft and other related offenses.
