Man accused of Willingboro store clerk's murder indicted

MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. (WTXF) Authorities say a man was indicted by a Burlington County Grand Jury in connection with the killing a convenient store clerk in November 2015 in Willingboro Township.

According to authorities, Eramus Canty, 32, was indicted on one count of Felony Murder (First Degree), one count of Robbery (First Degree) and one count of Certain Persons Not to Have Firearms (Second Degree).

Canty is accused of fatally shooting store clerk Matthew Mwinsori, age 42, of Willingboro, during a
robbery on November 25 at the Quick N Go convenience store in the 100 block of Rev. Dr. Martin
Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Willingboro Township police were called to the store that night at
approximately 8:20 p.m. on a report of shots being fired in the area.

Authorities say upon arrival they found Mwinsori in the street suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to
Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County in Willingboro, where he was pronounced dead
approximately one hour later.

Canty was taken into custody shortly after midnight on December 19 by police officers in
Asbury Park, N.J. According to authorities, the investigation revealed that the defendant allegedly entered the store and demanded money from
Mwinsori.

The indictment was returned Thursday. An arraignment will be scheduled in Superior Court in Burlington County. Canty remains in the Burlington County Jail on $750,000 bail.
