Attempted Abduction Reported in West Philadelphia

Police are investigating an attempted abduction that took place N. 60 th Street on Monday.

According to the report from Special Victims Unit, a 14-year-old female reported that she was waiting for a bus at the corner of 60th and Arch when she was approached by an unknown male who asked if it was okay to speak to her. When she said "no," the man attempted to grab her. She then struggled and fled on foot. The alleged incident happened near a new city surveillance camera.

The Route 46 bus travels down 60th street where the attempted abduction occurred. SEPTA police are searching through bus surveillance footage looking for the incident or the suspect. Police patrols have been stepped up and parents are keeping a close eye on their children.

The offender is described as a black male in his mid 30s, 5'5" tall, 230-250 pounds, with a close-cut beard and a thick mustache. The man fled in a dark blue four-door sedan with tinted windows.
