Bank Robbery Reported in Center City

A Republic Bank branch at 1601 Walnut Street was robbed Wednesday morning, and the Philadelphia Police and FBI are working to identify and locate the subject.

According to the FBI's Philadelphia division, the subject entered the bank at 10 a.m. and handed a demand note to a teller. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, the subject fled on foot, heading South on 16 th Street towards Walnut.

The FBI described the subject as a white male, approximately 30-40 years old and 5'9" tall, with a thin build. He wore a black hooded sweatshirt, silver shorts, a green Eagles cap and sunglasses, and carried a bluish-gray backpack with black and green trim.

This subject is considered armed and dangerous.
