Bank Robbery Reported in Center City

- A Republic Bank branch at 1601 Walnut Street was robbed Wednesday morning, and the Philadelphia Police and FBI are working to identify and locate the subject.

According to the FBI’s Philadelphia division, the subject entered the bank at 10 a.m. and handed a demand note to a teller. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, the subject fled on foot, heading South on 16th Street towards Walnut.

The FBI described the subject as a white male, approximately 30-40 years old and 5’9” tall, with a thin build. He wore a black hooded sweatshirt, silver shorts, a green Eagles cap and sunglasses, and carried a bluish-gray backpack with black and green trim.

This subject is considered armed and dangerous. 

Anyone with information about this robbery or this subject is urged to call the FBI at 215-418-4000 or the Philadelphia Police Department. There may be a reward for information leading to this subject’s capture; tipsters can remain anonymous.
