Burlington Twp. stabbing victim dies, suspect charged with murder

BURLINGTON TWP. (WTXF) - Authorities announced Tuesday that the victim of a recent stabbing attack in Burlington Township has died, and the man arrested for committing the attack has been charged with homicide.

The new charge followed an autopsy which concluded the manner of death was homicide and the cause was multiple stab wounds.

34-year-old William Hines, of Burlington Township, has been charged with one count of first-degree murder for fatally stabbing 54-year-old Scott Willis.

The incident took place on Sunday, October 29 at the suspect and victim's shared residence in the Brittany Court section of the Chateau Apartments on Sunset Road in Burlington Township.

Police arrived on the scene just after 10 a.m., discovering the victim on the bathroom floor with multiple stab wounds and lacerations to his face, upper chest, hands and arms.

The victim was treated at the scene and transported to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, where he was listed in critical condition after being admitted.

Hines fled the apartment but was apprehended on October 30, and was initially charged with Attempted Murder, along with Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

After Scott Willis passed away on Saturday, November 4 at Cooper University Hospital, authorities upgraded his charges to include homicide.
