PHILADELPHIA- WTXF - "I don't think speculation is effective," Mayor Kenney, noting that speculation is what scares people. "In the meantime, we are concerned about Officer Hartnett."
Kenney also addressed his comments on the day of Hartnett's shooting about Muslims, "those citizens, who are tax-paying, god-fearing citizens, should not be painted with that broad brush."
"I think our FBI and police know better than Rush Limbaugh."
Kenney spoke at the briefing along with Senator Bob Casey and Police Commissioner Richard Ross.
"We're seeing the rise of a lone wolf problem," Senator Casey said in a briefing Thursday at police headquarters, in reference to the recent attack on Philadelphia Police officer Jesse Hartnett, as well as the arrest of a young man in Harrisburg on charges that he aided ISIS.
In addition, The Department of Homeland Security and Justice Department have put together a task force called CVE, which stands for Countering Violent Extremism, Casey said Thursday.
FOX 29's Bruce Gordon asked about whether the attack on Officer Hartnett should be described as an "act of terrorism," Casey stated the investigation is still ongoing, and he will "leave it to the security professionals to make determinations" as to what happened.
