Daycare owner charged with assaulting children appears in court

A preliminary hearing for the Philadelphia day care owner charged with sex assault was held Monday morning.

Duncan Round was scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m., and the hearing was continued until August 30.

Police say the 53-year-old from Medford Lakes, New Jersey sexually assaulted two 5-year-olds at the Sprouts Preschool at 9th and South Streets.

Investigators say Round has owned and operated the daycare for about 10 years.

Round has been charged with rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, and related charges.

The alleged abuse was reported back on July 25th.

Round was arrested after surrendering to police earlier this month, and was released after posting bail.
