Delaware County officials declare Disaster Emergency

- Delaware County officials declared a Disaster Emergency Saturday in the wake of an overnight nor’easter that left extensive damage to roads, bridges, homes and businesses.

Power outages remain widespread due to downed trees and power lines across the county. As of Saturday morning, 82,000 Delaware County homes and businesses — one third of the county — are without power.

City officials are currently working across municipalities to arrange warming centers that can be activated if needed.

By proclaiming a disaster, resources are allocated to help municipalities respond to storm recovery efforts. The declaration will remain in effect for seven days.
