Detroit child paralyzed in shooting one year ago

You'd never know it from speaking with 8-year-old India Williams, but one year ago she was caught in the middle of a shootout.

"She went from being able to run and jump, to always in a wheelchair," India's mom Clinqute Williams recalled the day their lives changed forever.

At this time last year, India was in the hospital after being caught in the middle of a shootout between two cars while riding her bike on Charest Street. The bullet went right through her spinal cord leaving her paralyzed.

Instead of a somber reminder of that day, her family and friends want to give her a good memory. In an effort to raise funds to buy a wheelchair van, they had a party.

Meanwhile, the search continues for the person who changed India's life forever.
