Detroit pastor questioned for killing man in church

A Detroit pastor has been taken into custody for questioning after a deadly shooting at his church Sunday afternoon.

Police say 25-year-old Deante Smith attacked the pastor with a brick and hammer. Some other parishioners were also threatened. The pastor was armed and police say he fatally shot the 25-year-old man.

This happened at the The City of God church on Grand River Avenue near Lahser Road.

According to police, the attack was not random. Police say the pastor knew the man, and that the two have had personal issues in the past.

No one else inside the church was hurt. The pastor was taken into custody for questioning.

The shooting is under investigation. Police were unsure if the pastor was a CPL holder.
