Police: Driver flees scene after child struck by car in Olney

PHILADELPHIA, PA (WTXF) - Accident investigators confirmed that it was a city vehicle that was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run that left a child injured. The department to which the vehicle belongs to is unknown at this time.

Police say a 1 and a half year old child was struck by a white van or pickup truck on the 200 block of West Grange Avenue in the city's Olney section shortly before 2 p.m. Monday.

Police say the child was taken to Einstein Hospital and is listed in stable condition.

According to investigators, the child may have wandered out of the home without a parent knowing and there's a good chance the driver of the vehicle did not see the child wander into the street.

Investigators are going through surveillance video and talking to witnesses for additional clues. If you have any information, please call Philadelphia police.
