Fallen Wilmington firefighters remembered at prayer ceremony

Tragedy has left the Wilmington community rattled to the core.

Saturday afternoon, residents gathered for a service to honor the fallen heroes and pray for the firemen who were critically burned.

Love ones came together at Salesianum School, the Catholic High School where one of the firefighters, Lt. Christopher Leach, graduated from in 1994.

Family members, police, firefighters, and first responders from across the area came to the school to pay their respects. The American flag was also lowered to half-staff.

Both fallen firefighters leave behind wives and children, and are remembered as men who were committed not just to their jobs, but certainly to their families and communities.

One of the firefighters injured in the fire attended the ceremony, and another has been released from the hospital. Two more remain hospitalized.
