Former Chadds Ford monsignor facing theft, drug charges

A monsignor at a Catholic church in Delaware County is facing theft and drug charges.

Saint Cornelius church officials held an emergency closed-door meeting Thursday night in Chadds Ford after their former pastor Gregory Parlante was arrested.

Last spring, he announced his departure in the church bulletin, citing medical issues.

Weeks later, State Police and drug-sniffing dogs were called to the church to investigate a package addressed to him that was believed to have contained illegal drugs.

According to court records, he has been released on $100,000 bail.

Parlante's attorney says his client has no comment.
