NORRISTOWN, PA (WTXF)- Saturday morning, funeral services will be held for a young boy who was killed trying to save his father from a house fire in Norristown.
12-year-old Sanford Harling died in the fire last week, after he safely made his way out of the home, but ran back in to save his father who was trapped upstairs after recent hip replacement surgery.
Officials say Sanford became trapped in the kitchen area during his rescue efforts.
His father did survive the fire, after jumping out of a window, breaking his back.
FOX 29's Jennifer Joyce was in Norristown Saturday, where loved ones and an entire community came together to remember the life of this brave young boy.
He is survived by his loving mother, Dana, his father Sanford, Jr., and his siblings. His family says he loved to play football, and was a bright and comical boy.
The Sanford Harling III Memorial Fund has been launched, with a gofundme at this link, in order to help out a family that has lost everything in the fire.
