Gun found in student's backpack at Nicetown high school

NICETOWN (WTXF) - Police are investigating after a gun was found in a student's backpack at a Nicetown high school on Tuesday.

Officials say the firearm was discovered during a scan at Randolph High School on Henry Avenue.

The school was placed on lockdown shortly after 10 a.m. The lockdown was lifted just before 10:30 a.m.

Police say the student was apprehended and the gun was recovered.

No further information has been released at this time.
