Haverford Township officer dies suddenly of illness

A local community is in mourning after the sudden death of a beloved police officer in Haverford Township.

According to the police department, 39-year-old William Albertus died Sunday due to an illness.

The seven-year veteran of the force suffered a medical emergency last week while playing ice hockey in a police league.

Albertus died of natural causes after being hospitalized for a week.

He leaves behind his wife and three young children.

Services are set for this weekend.
