Hitting the streets in Philadelphia's opioid epidemic ‘Ground Zero'

We report on the opioid epidemic all the time, but seeing the stark reality with you own eyes?

That's a whole different realm.

FOX 29 Photojournalist Shane McEachern and Lucy Noland hit the streets of Kensington, what many call Ground Zero in the war against opioids in our community.

Within minutes they witnessed person after person, either stumbling down the streets, looking to score, or pleading for a hand to lift them out of the abyss.

So how did we get here?

How do we get out of here?

They left heartbroken, yet inspired.

Heartbroken because of how many 'people' are broken, but inspired by two men who work for the city of Philadelphia and are a force of change, healing one broken life after another right there in the streets.
